Rainier Ravens Run Rampant Against Beacon Hill In Electric 11U Matchup

By Airik Myers, The Seattle Medium

A matchup of two storied programs, the Beacon Hill Cowboys played host to the visiting Rainer Ravens in an 11U showdown. This game was filled with absolute offensive firepower and some defensive efforts that would give anyone trouble.

It started off with a bang, as Demetrios Gordon Jr. exploded for a 60-yard touchdown run. That set the tempo of the game and the teams never slowed down. J’Shaun Wilson responded immediately with a huge touchdown run of his own to tie the game at 6. The Ravens started to show their class and tighten up defensively. Correctly guessing the play, Jaylinn Haywood cut off the Cowboys handoff and he “rumbled, bumbled and stumbled” his way into the endzone! That fumble return for a touchdown was a sign of more good things to come for the Ravens in this game.

Gantrell Mathews and Michael Wayman both scored short yardage touchdowns before half time to give the Ravens a 26 to 6 lead. The second half was more of the same for the Ravens offense. With some trickery, J’Shaun Wilson threw a half back pass to Tim Tyson-Rolle for a 30-yard touchdown. A 25-yard touchdown run by Jaylinn Haywood capped off the near perfect performance by the Ravens. Coach Matt of the Ravens had this to say after the game. “Jae’Vion Frost, Jaylinn Haywood, J’Shaun Wilson were some standouts. The whole team played well. But it wasn’t a perfect game, because we strive for excellence. We had great moments, but it wasn’t a great game.”
