I agree with the players not wanting to visit the White House due to all the negativity that surrounds Trump and the players. I think it’s rather childish that if the players refused to attend as a sign of protest, then the President is going to uninvite them. I think that’s acting childish. That tit for tat, yeah I don’t like that.

All you have to do is look at the environment Trump has fostered. It’s no wonder such trivial and childish reactions from one who is suppose to be the leader of the free world are on display. I agree of course with the players. They are only exercising their rights to free speech and the right to protest, but as we see, this president is diminishing the meaning of the democracy, stripping and degrading some of our most fundamental institutions and beliefs. And the tradition of sports seems to be on Trump’s list of things to destroy.

Salute the players! Exercise your rights. That is the freedom in which America is fundamentally built on. Trump’s antics towards what America stands for is something to ponder on as to why? But the players are making their voices heard and the President feel s offended so he’s acting out. It’s weird to speak of our president in such adolescent terms, but this is what we see, these types of behaviors is what Trump shows us.

When I think about this issue I think of “one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all” and I think when there’s no justice then there needs to be communication so we’re going to have to meet somewhere. Whether it’s in the White House or the outhouse we need to meet somewhere and talk about these issues. And so, things need to change and coming together and caucusing, dealing with these issues, because we’ve got kids in the street getting killed and we’re talking about whether you’re going to come to my house or you can’t come to my house.

I feel both sides are negative and I don’t think you’ll ever get change in anything if we’re negative about it. I think at some point somebody has to engage and deal with the issues at hand in order to overcome them. So, if we keep saying, “oh I’m not going to go to you or I’m going to turn you down”, Imma do this, we will never see change. So our community stays where it’s at and we need to see change.”

I choose the players right to not attend because the White House fails to acknowledge that the players’ protest is not about the flag, it’s about the injustice people of color face day to day in the United States.
