Remembering Zane Uriel Fitch, II

Zane Uriel Fitch, II

Zane Uriel Fitch, II was born in Denton, Texas, as the first child of Zane and Sharon-Rose Davidson Fitch.

Fitch started school in Tacoma at Northeast Tacoma Elementary School, and later attended Bryn-Mawr Elementary School in Lakeridge and McKnight Middle School in Renton after the family moved to Seattle.

Fitch was also an active member of First A.M.E. Church, where he was part of the Young Peoples Department (YPD) Usher Board.

Fitch attended Kennedy High School before graduating from Renton High School in 1998. He joined the U.S. Army in 2000, completing his basic training at Ft. Benning, Ga., where he distinguished himself in leadership. He accepted the role of Guidon, holding the flag in formation and closely drilled with the Commander and First Sargent. After advanced training at Ft. Lee, Virginia Quartermaster School, Fitch was assigned to Korea and later Ft. Lewis.

Fitch is survived by his daughter Taylur J. Mitchell, La. His parents Dr. Zane Fitch, Sr. and Rev. Dr. Sharon Rose Fitch, Brother Winston Victor Fitch, and a host of relatives and friends. 

Services for Fitch will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Mon., Dec. 20, 2021 at Walker Chapel A.M.E. Church – 2400 East Valley Rd. Viewing will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. After the services, a graveside ceremony will take place at Tahoma National Cemetery with Full Military Honors at 1:30 p.m.
