
Locals are now talking about road rage in Seattle. The shooting of a child recently might be the tipping point for many. In King County there has been 230 road rage incidents where weapons were brandished, and 193 where shots have actually been fired.
A 9-year-old boy was shot during a road Rage incident and was taken to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The shooting happened on northbound 167 near Grady Way in Renton around 3 p.m. on Friday, according to Washington State Patrol (WSP).
Experts are saying that this trend is happening across the country. 2021 was a record-setting year for road rage violence. There was an estimated 500 people shot in the United States as a result of road rage. The 9-year-old boy in Seattle, Isaiah, was taken to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. He was tragically shot in the face and chest. There is no data stating whether both wounds are from the same bullet.
According to reports release by WSP, two vehicles (one with Isaiah in it) were at an intersection when the driver of the Durango approached the Mustang. Someone in the Mustang then fired and a bullet hit the child.
Washington State Patrol data shows that road rage instances has gone up every year for the past four years in King County. In attempting to educate the public, Sergeant Moss says it is important to not react or escalate the situation.
“You don’t know what they’re going to get out of their car with,” said Moss. “Are they getting out of their car with a crappy attitude and they want to fight you? Or are they getting out with a weapon, like a baseball bat, or a hammer, or a firearm?”
