Former Seattle Seahawks Jermaine Kearse and Doug Baldwin recently delivered 18 desktop computers, as the first installment of 35 computers donated by Safeway, to the Central Area Youth Association (CAYA) to benefit kids at Leschi Elementary School as part of CAYA’s Best Start For Kids program.

The donation, on behalf of the Family First Community Center Foundation and Safeway, will enable all 35 kids in the program to have computers in their homes in order to have access to their online academic classes, one-to-one tutoring and CAYA’s after school program activities.

“We reached out to our local community partner, Safeway, and expressed the need for all of our kids to have computers in their homes and they delivered,” says CAYA Executive Director Joe Staten. “And we were really surprised to see Jermaine Kearse and Doug Baldwin personally delivering the computers, what a surprise!”

“These computers will really help us as we secure a process to re-engage the students and have our tutors begin working with them online,” added Staten. “We are truly grateful that Safeway, Doug Baldwin and Jermaine Kearse stepped up to help these kids and their families, so they can stay on top of the academic studies.”
