“I don’t think so. I don’t think they’re doing enough. I’ve noticed there are a lot of empty retail spaces in general, and instead of building houses, they put those retail spaces there, and they still haven’t filled them with anything because everything’s really expensive in Seattle. Even my apartment is only at 30% capacity. It’s mostly because most people just can’t afford to live here. I feel like they have not been doing enough.”
“No. They are too greedy, or they will put you in a housing program and then say you aren’t ready for that.”
“First of all, I was just in housing. I won’t say the name of the housing I was just in, but they were doing so much wrong. So, yes, I think they could do better. I see the money going just to themselves. That’s why there are so many landlords, so many different people rotating in and out. They are just getting their cut, and then they cut out.”
“I don’t know if there ever is a way to address affordable housing. I think that when they deal with the developers downtown who constantly are building, and there may be low occupancy in their buildings, that was asked for by businesses such as Amazon to make sure that there’s enough for their people who are coming in. And when you’re building specifically to cater to them, then that means you’re not dealing with affordable housing. So, is there enough? Yes, I think there is. However, do the developers want to provide that? Do they want to support that? No, I would say that they don’t.”
“I am in the middle. I think more needs to be done for those who don’t have access to resources, but at the same time, I think that they are doing fine with affordable housing in Seattle because the places are full.”
“I think Seattle has done a decent job of housing homeless people who aren’t bringing in any type of income. It’s not like you can build tiny homes everywhere. There are also programs that people I know are a part of, who are in a nice apartment and have not paid rent for a couple of years. They’ve been getting help. Then some have not been helped, but you need to ask for help to get help. Seattle is probably the nicest city in the country, even the law enforcement. Yeah, it’s a biased opinion; it’s an unpopular opinion, but I actually think that they’re doing a great job.”
