If you have a daughter, granddaughter or niece and want to engage their imaginations, support them in their social-emotional development and be exposed to women in science, business, law, engineering, medicine and education – then Seattle Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has two program offerings.
The Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy is for girls in middle school. The Shabazz Delta Academy uses science, math, and technology to engage the girls in interactive activities embedded with Common Core science, math and technology standards. Applications are due August 31, 2018.
The Dr. Jean L. Noble GEMS (Growing and Empowering Myself Successfully) is designed to help young ladies in high school. They are engaged in activities to help them plan for life after high school, practice collaborative planning, and learn about a variety of career options. Participants help plan the agenda for topics that interest them. They also will plan our annual All King County Teen Summit. Applications are due September 30, 2018.
Both programs are held the third Saturday of each month and are on the Metro bus 106 and Seattle light rail routes. Parents/Guardians provide transportation. All other expenses are paid by the members of Seattle Alumnae Chapter and our generous donors. More information and applications are available at www.seattledeltas.org.
