A shooting at Golden Gardens Park in Seattle on Saturday evening resulted in a 35-year-old man being hospitalized with serious injuries. The incident, which occurred around 8:00 p.m., followed an argument that escalated into violence, with the victim suffering multiple gunshot wounds to the neck and chest.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found the victim in critical condition and immediately provided medical assistance. Fortunately, a trauma doctor who was present at the park during the shooting offered his support until Seattle Fire Department medics arrived to take over care and transport the injured man to Harborview Medical Center.
The alleged shooter, identified as a 22-year-old man, fled the scene in a black Mercedes. Police later located the vehicle in Ballard, near the intersection of 28th N.W. and N.W. Market Street, just a couple of blocks from the Ballard Locks. There were three individuals in the car at the time of the arrest. Officers conducted a high-risk, felony traffic stop, apprehending the suspect and seizing a handgun from the vehicle.
The victim is currently in serious condition, suffering from life-threatening injuries. According to the Seattle Police Blog, the suspect has been identified and taken into custody. The authorities are investigating the incident, with detectives from the Gun Violence Reduction Unit (GVRU) involved in the case.
Following the arrest, the suspect was transported to Seattle Police Headquarters for questioning and is expected to be processed into the King County Jail, potentially facing assault charges. The incident is believed to have stemmed from a verbal altercation that escalated into the shooting.
