
The Seattle Public Library will host an African-American film series celebrating black actors, directors and films that depict the African-American experience.
The film series, which is free and open to the public, will run April 25 through June 27 and will take place at multiple Library locations.
The program series will include the following film screenings:
• “The Bingo Long Traveling All-Stars and Motor Kings” (PG) – Sat., Apr. 25 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. at the Lake City Branch, 12501 28th Ave. N.E.
• “In the Heat of the Night” (unrated) – Thur., Apr. 30 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., Level 1, Microsoft Auditorium.
• “The Pursuit of Happyness” (PG-13) – Tues., May 5 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Douglass-Truth Branch, 2300 E. Yesler Way. This viewing is for teens ages 12-18.
• “Pariah” (R) – Weds., May 6 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Capitol Hill Branch, 425 Harvard Ave. E.
• “Cooley High” (PG) – Thur., May 7 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., Level 1, Microsoft Auditorium.
• “Thelonius Monk: Straight No Chaser ” (PG-13) – Sat., May 14 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., Level 1, Microsoft Auditorium.
• “Dear White People” (R) – Thur., May 14 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the University Branch, 5009 Roosevelt Way N.E.
• “The Hurricane” (R) – Sat., May 16 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Rainier Beach Branch, 9125 Rainier Ave. S.
• “Do the Right Thing” (R) – Mon., May 18 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:10 p.m. at the Douglass-Truth Branch, 2300 E. Yesler Way.
