Seattle Public Utilities Is Making It Easier To Get A Free Toilet

Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) has raised its income limits to qualify for a free toilet to 80% of the state’s median income (up from 70%).  SPU’s Water Conservation Program can replace an existing toilet in your home if you get your water from SPU, live in the home that you own, have a toilet that was installed before 2004 and meet the new income requirements. Installation and removal of the old toilet is also free.

For example, a household size of one must have a gross monthly income of $3,390 ($40,680 a year) or less to qualify.  The limit for a household of two is $4,433 a month ($53,196 a year).  To get income requirements for larger households and other details of this program, please visit www.seattle.gov/util/FreeToilets or call Sound Generations Minor Home Repair at (206) 448-5751.
