Flooded Seattle Townhome Leads to Discovery of Homicide Victim

A tragic sequence of events unfolded in Seattle’s Olympic Hills neighborhood when the flooding of a townhome led to the discovery of a homicide victim. The incident occurred over the weekend near 30th Avenue NE and NE 133rd Street, prompting a police investigation and the arrest of a suspect.

According to Seattle police, the grim discovery was made on Saturday after neighbors noticed water leaking from the unit. The landlord, along with fire officials, accessed the flooded townhome from the roof. Reports indicate that a faucet was likely left running in the bathroom, resulting in 2-3 inches of water covering the floors and causing a partial ceiling collapse due to water damage.

Inside the unit, a young woman was found deceased in the bathroom, lying on her back with visible injuries to her neck. Neighbors remarked that her legs appeared to have been posed, with her feet together and knees out. Fire officials pronounced her dead at the scene.

Seattle police have launched a homicide investigation into the woman’s death, with detectives reportedly spending around 12 hours at the scene gathering evidence. Neighbors revealed that the suspect, a man in his mid-20s, was captured on security video the evening prior, entering the townhome with the young woman around 5 p.m.

Shortly after their arrival, fire alarms were triggered, alerting neighbors to the flooding situation. Police and fire officials were called to the scene around 10:20 a.m. on Saturday. Following the discovery of the body, it was reported that the man left the townhome and checked himself into a local hospital, although the reasons for his hospital visit remain unclear. Law enforcement was able to locate him, leading to his subsequent arrest.

Residents of the complex recalled that the man had previously mentioned having ties to China and Hawaii. He is currently being held on $5 million bail, according to court records.

Neighbors expressed shock at the events, noting that the couple appeared to be settling in for the night without any signs of trouble. On Saturday morning, witnesses reported seeing the man leave the townhome alone, taking an unknown item from beneath his shirt.
