SIFF Movie Preview: Hunt For The Wilderpeople

By Kim Bennett
The Seattle Medium

Hunt for the Wilderpeople is a humorous adventure following thirteen year old Ricky Baker, his dog Tupac and Uncle Hec, as they disappear into the New Zealand bush to avoid being captured by child services. Shuttled to and from foster homes, Ricky is dubbed a “bad egg” whose next stop is juvenile detention. However, when he arrives on the doorstep of a quirky Aunt Bella and a gruff Uncle Hec, he finally finds acceptance and a sense of home punctuated by sweeping scenes of the lush New Zealand landscape.
