The South King County Junior Football & Cheer League started their 2013 season last weekend with some exciting football action. The league’s newest franchise, the Emerald City Seahawks, started their inaugural year with season opening wins in four divisions. Also, the CD Panthers locked up with the Seatac Sharks in some exciting football action, and the Rainier White Ravens took on their cousins from the other side of the field, the Rainer Green Ravens, in a battle of the nest.

The Sharks recorded a huge comeback win against the CD Panthers in a hard fought game by both teams. Seatac’s offense was lead by Caleb Presley who scored all four of the Sharks touchdowns. Sharks QB Lyndon Vaivao kept the ball moving for the Sharks. The Sharks defense was led by a host of players including Aaron Sokimi, KeSean Burks-Jones, Daniel Maiava, Max Holliman and Nyjawn Sterling.

Marquise Roy set the tone early for the Seahawks as he hooked up with DeAndre Gill on a 50-yard touchdown pass on the game’s opening drive. Ronald “Wayne” Miller III scored twice for the Seahawks, followed by Ny’Ghire Henderson, and Yanis Fisher with with touchdowns of their own. The stingy Seahawk defense led by MarJon Bennett, Del-Lil Downs and DonTe Jones did an excellent job shutting down the Hungry Vikings.

The Green Ravens led by the quarterbacking skills of Malachi Wayman and Leland Ward unveiled their potent offense in a shutout win over the White Ravens. The Green Ravens’ offensive line, anchored by Isiah Doss, Donovan Lowe, Marquis Pressley and Kafupeti Fonua helped pave the way for seven running backs — Jacolby Cochran, A’Shaki Davis, Jalen Dixon (1 TD), Silk Harris (2 TDs), Dante Haynes Jr., Elijah McClain, and Anthony “Big Tone” Wayman (1 TD) – to showcase their skills as they put together a total team effort to earn this victory. The Green Ravens’ defense, led by Jahmir Jackson, James Scott aka “Duke” and the multi-talented Tre Holman, was able to hold the White Ravens to zero first downs the entire game. These Green Ravens know how to load the wagon!

After the Vikings returned the opening kickoff for the score and successful two-point PAT kick, the Seahawks took the next possession the length of the field and scored on a Sincere Henderson dive. Omari “Uno” Williams then converted the point after touchdown to make the score 7 – 8. The Seahawks defense stopped the Vikings, and set up a touchdown run by Omari Williams. Sincere Henderson converted the point after touchdown to give the Seahawks a 14 – 8 lead. The Seahawks took at commanding 20-8 lead after Marcell “Scrappy” Robinson scored on a long run. The score remained the same until the Vikings scored on a long run, but missed the PAT kick, bringing the score to 20 – 14. The Seahawks sealed the win as Jesse Victo recorded an interception in the closing seconds of the game.

The Sharks spread offense was lead by Mark Tafia, Bubba Ulugalu and Tamaaulelei Ma’alona as they posted an impressive victory over the Panthers.

Rainer Green Quarterback Trey Morris completed 4 of 8 passes for 148 yards and two touchdowns. Morris connected with Noah Williams on both touchdown passes, while running backs JayQuann Ingram and Derek Ray scored a total of three touchdowns en route to a 32-0 win. The Green Ravens defense was relentless holding the White Ravens to a total of 60 yards.
