South King County Junior Football League – Week 9

Peewees

Emerald City Seahawks 19, CD Panthers 0

For the second week in a row, the Lil’s Hawks posted a shutout win over the CD Panthers. Last week, the Seahawks posted a 26-0 win over CD in a battle of undefeated teams. This week, both teams came ready to play as they fought to a 0-0 tie at the half.

“I told my players all week the Panthers will not lay down and will come to play,” said Emerald City Peewee Coach Darren Gill, who re-enforced this message to his team during his halftime speech.

After the half, The Lil’ Hawks, inspired by their coaches halftime speech, got busy. The Seahawks’ Samual Taylor scored two touchdowns (45, 40 yards) to ignite the Emerald City offense. In the 4th quarter, Seahawk quarterback Donovan (Bam) Gill dropped back to pass and then scampered 44 yards for a touchdown to round out Emerald City’s scoring, as Nyale Robinson converted the extra point.  With the win, The Seahawks improved to 9-0 and in sole possession of first place. This exciting team of 5-6 year-olds play beyond their years. Gill has recorded seven touchdown passes this year, as the team runs a hurry up offense that includes the use of audibles.

“In my 40 years of being involved in little league football I have never seen a 5 – 6 year old team do what these guys have done this year,” said Coach Gill. “If you wanna get some great free Entertainment then you must see this Emerald City Seahawks peewee team.”
