It’s an immense privilege for Tabor 100 to have a feature spot in the Juneteenth edition of The Seattle Medium Newspaper Group! Coming up on its fifth anniversary of federal recognition, more people each year are learning of the long, hard work it took to spread word of liberation to those who thought it’d never come- until it did.
This holiday is more than just a historic milestone; it’s a lesson on what practical, generational change looks like: It’s slow, so slow you’re not even sure if it’s ever going to come.
But it always does. Change can be slow, but it’s always inevitable and exhilarating when it arrives.
But it also takes action, and it always starts locally. That’s where community-centric associations like Tabor 100 come in.
Bringing economic opportunities to underserved communities, Tabor 100 is a non-profit organization focused on growing the representation, longevity, and building a community network of minority-owned small business owners throughout Washington State. Such opportunities are upheld by our organization’s membership and technical assistance programs.
Tabor’s membership program connects like-minded entrepreneurs of all industries and sizes with each other and our organization’s partners at the state and city levels. Partnered with entities including, but not limited to, WSDOT, City of Seattle, and Sound Transit, our members can make real connections that lead to real projects and opportunities. By becoming a member, you’re not just joining another organization- you’re joining a community that will give back as much as you’re willing to put in.
While community is important, working capital also is- not everyone has the funds or resources to make their entrepreneurial dreams a reality. That’s where Tabor’s Technical Assistance Program comes into play. Available to members and non-members alike, this program provides professional development services from a Tabor 100 consultant to business owners in need- completely free of charge to them. This program has provided services such as marketing support, business plan & capability statement development, bid preparation, and accounting support. Businesses that receive services have been able to grow their practice, stay afloat, and even obtain projects & opportunities they otherwise wouldn’t have received.
We understand that change takes time. But at Tabor 100, when we come together, we can expedite that timeline together. Because, per our motto, we rise by lifting others.
