Tacoma residents will have an opportunity to help restore parks and natural areas across the city on Oct. 10 as the City of Tacoma and Green Tacoma Partnership host the annual Green Tacoma Day.
The citywide volunteer effort will include projects at seven sites, where participants will plant native trees and shrubs, remove weeds, pick up litter and complete other work aimed at improving Tacoma’s parks, neighborhoods and natural areas.
Organizers are inviting community members of all ages and abilities to participate, and no previous experience is required. Tools, gloves and guidance will be provided at the volunteer sites.
“Thank you to all the volunteers, organizations, and City staff that make this day possible every year,” said Tacoma Mayor Anders Ibsen. “Our green spaces are the biggest legacy we leave to the next generation, and we commend the amazing Tacomans who make that possible.”
Green Tacoma Day is organized by the City of Tacoma and the Green Tacoma Partnership as an annual day of service that gives residents a hands-on role in caring for green spaces throughout the city.
