“The problem with the support for Colin Kaepernick is the same way the Black people watch the police beat us down and video tape it and stand by and do nothing. It’s the same thing that’s happening right now in the NFL. This man is standing alone, he’s not even Black, let me tell it and it’s sad that Black folks will talk about it around the water cooler, yet everyone is waiting on a leader, everybody’s waiting on someone else to do it. This man has gotten little support. This man is being Blackballed for standing up for the injustices done to my people and no one has stood up for him, they won’t even give him a job.”

“So is the African American community doing enough to help Colin Kaepernick? Not quite sure what we can do more, but I guess just support his efforts. Whether it be, his applying for different teams, just support his efforts. I understand, everybody disagreed with the fact that he was kneeling down when the National Anthem was being played, if it’s not being played for us, I mean come on, it rings true, we have to stand up for change and I applaud him for doing that. So I’m not quite sure what African Americans can do better to support him, except support the striving for the cause that Black people’s lives matter and freedom is freedom.”
Ron Pope…
“I believe that Kaepernick being the quarterback that he is, if I’m not mistaken he took them to the championship when he was with 49ers? The deal is this, you should never have any quams on account of his protest against the things being done to Black people. Black people are getting shot at least once a week. Everyone, who is White in this country, are saying we are doing something wrong, the only thing wrong in this country is being a young Black male.”
Jason Drake…
The Colin Kaepernick thing, it’s big, but we just need to support him. This is his movement, well more or less him, but the movement, his beliefs, if you believe in the same thing. That’s where the problem lies, we just don’t support each other in crucial situations. I think this is the time, it is still relevant, it is still a point to ponder, the talk at every BBQ and barber shop, my main thing is just support, we got to support us.”
Chris Osorio…
“I feel like on one hand they can support and back Colin Kaepernick but on the other, I don’t know if he is necessarily a good representation or stands behind the issues and concerns of the community.”
Jermaine Wright…
“No I do not believe the African American is doing enough to back Colin Kaepernick. I think we should stand behind him more, just like throughout Black history, standing up for our rights in America and the way they’re treating him, he needs that support and we should be supporting him.”
