
A devastating car accident unfolded on Saturday night in Seattle’s SODO neighborhood, resulting in the tragic death of one teenager and serious injuries to three others. The incident involved a single vehicle that lost control, leading to a catastrophic crash. According to reports, the vehicle exited southbound State Route 99 at Harbor Island, collided with the ramp barrier, and plummeted approximately 80 feet, landing upside down. The alarming scene prompted a swift response from local police and emergency services.
At around 10:09 p.m., officers arrived at East Marginal Way South and South Spokane Street, where they encountered an overturned vehicle and a 16-year-old female driver trapped inside. The Seattle Police Department Blotter provided initial details on the incident, highlighting the urgency of the situation.
The Seattle Fire Department promptly arrived on the scene and worked diligently to extricate the young driver. Meanwhile, a second male teenager, who had been ejected from the vehicle during the collision, was discovered in critical condition. Two additional male passengers managed to escape the wreckage on their own, although they sustained serious injuries.
All four teenagers were quickly transported to Harborview Medical Center for urgent medical care. Despite the best efforts of medical personnel, the ejected teenager tragically succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival at the hospital.
The Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) is currently conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Detectives are exploring various potential factors that may have contributed to the accident, including vehicle speed, impairment, and prevailing weather conditions at the time of the incident. As the investigation unfolds, the community remains in shock over the loss of young life and the serious injuries sustained by the teens involved in this tragic event.
