What Are Your Thoughts On Seattle Public School’s Proposed School Closings

Crystal
“My thoughts: Washington State spends most of its time focusing on the wrong issues. Why in the world would you close a school, or any schools for that matter? As hard as people fought to have a proper education—’Each One Teach One.’ The money is being spent on some necessary projects and some unnecessary ones, just causing an organized mess. Our children will have to suffer because of bad budgeting? I don’t think so. Cut back on your salary and these projects to save our children of the future.”
Ronald
“It is very difficult decisions that are being made regarding (1) closing schools and (2) which ones to close. I hope the state will step up and provide more funding for public schools. I would also like to see raises for our underpaid teachers. That’s my view.”
Lisa
“I do not agree with the Seattle Public School closures. There will be a bunch of schools where parents do not want to send their kids. I hope Seattle Public Schools can figure out a way to keep them open.”
Jeff
“It’s really hard for me to say because I’m hearing they don’t have the money to fund the schools, but it’s like I don’t know if they have the money and just don’t want to fund the schools. I just think it’s the wrong direction to close this many schools!”
Marie
“My children are grown, but they have children in the school district, and I imagine there will be some inconvenience for parents to adjust to the proposed changes. However, given the financial struggles the schools are experiencing, they have to do what they have to do.”
Ricardo
“As an immigrant living in this country, there are a lot of things we have had to learn to navigate. I take my children’s education very seriously, and if these are necessary steps for the school district to take to improve the education of my children, then I support the direction the school leaders are taking.”
