Renton Rangers 46, Bethel Bison 6
The Bethel Bison 6U opened their inaugural season with a 46-6 loss to the Renton Rangers last Saturday, as Renton’s explosive rushing attack proved difficult to contain. The Rangers jumped out to an early lead behind Derek Lowe Jr. and Cam’Ron Thomas, who scored multiple rushing touchdowns, including touchdown runs of 50, 60 and 40 yards. Thomas finished the game with five touchdowns, while Lowe Jr. added three rushing scores to help Renton secure its first win of the season.
Despite the loss, Bethel showed fight and flashes of potential throughout its first official game. Jiovanni Medina, Elliott Barley and Tui Lopa served as team captains for the opening coin toss, with Medina recording a tackle on Renton’s first play. Jack Mangum provided the Bison’s biggest offensive highlight, breaking loose for a 37-yard run before scoring on a 16-yard touchdown. Medina and Barley also contributed key runs, while Isair McQuiston recorded a quarterback sack and Kyden Stevens added a strong defensive stop. The game gave the new Bison program valuable experience and several positive moments to build on as the season continues.

Renton Rangers 78, Bethel Bison 0
The Renton Rangers 8U team turned in a dominant performance, defeating the Bethel Bison 78-0. The Rangers’ defense set the tone from the start, as every player saw time on the defensive side of the ball and the team did not allow Bethel to cross the 50-yard line. According to the Rangers’ coach, Darryl “Red” Gant, the team’s preparation during practice played a major role in the defensive effort.
Offensively, Renton was just as dominant. Lonzell King and Dondre Dowlen each scored three rushing touchdowns, with Dowlen also throwing a touchdown pass. Malakai Armstead added two rushing touchdowns, while Mason McClinton scored one. Nasir Rogers and Aubre Jones each caught a touchdown pass, from Dowlen and Gianni Pascua-Richard, respectively. Devaughn Burrell-Lofton added three rushing plays, while the Rangers also converted several rushing extra points, including three from Messiah Reynolds and one from Otulau Kamoto. The complete team effort helped Renton cruise to the 78-0 victory.
HEIR 26, RISE 0
HEIR turned in a strong all-around performance, defeating RISE 26-0 behind a dominant defensive effort. The defense forced three takeaways, with Elias Ruiz recording a fumble recovery. The front four of Jakari Foster, IzeYah Faagai, Kobe Finau and Kano Stevens helped control the line of scrimmage, while the secondary, led by Kainoa Nellams, Kymani Morton, Myron Beck Jr. and Ace Wilson, kept RISE from finding much success through the air. The linebackers, led by Kelly Fenstemacher, Elias Ruiz, Marcus Marshall and Jaylen Mitchell, also helped shut down the RISE rushing attack.
Offensively, Jaylen Mitchell led the way with more than 100 rushing yards on just three carries and two touchdowns. Kymani Morton added 70 rushing yards and a touchdown, while Nellams, known as “K9,” provided several explosive runs and big gains. HEIR also connected on a 50-yard touchdown pass from Mitchell to Jakari Foster, capping a complete performance on both sides of the ball.
CD Panthers 27, Royal T 7
The CD Panthers 8U team opened the scoring early and never looked back, defeating Royal T 27-7. Romello Woods got the Panthers on the board in the first quarter, taking a handoff 15 yards for the team’s first touchdown of the season. After a strong defensive stop, the Panthers drove down the field and added another score, with Amir Sprinks powering his way into the end zone to give CD a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Nehemiah Mitchell added another touchdown in the third quarter on a quarterback keeper, faking out the Royal T defense before finding the end zone. On defense, Kayceon Smith and Royal Krosschell combined for three sacks and a fumble recovery while helping lead the Panthers with a strong day of tackles. Trevon Martin capped off the scoring late in the fourth quarter, breaking loose on a toss sweep for a touchdown as the Panthers closed out the 27-7 victory.

HEIR Bang lived up to its national billing, surviving a hard-fought battle with local rival Benson Bruins for a dramatic 30-24 victory. The nationally top-ranked HEIR Bang squad was pushed throughout the night, but when the game was on the line, its biggest playmakers delivered.
Leading the way was CJ Ireland, who turned in a spectacular all-around performance. Ireland rushed for more than 150 yards and three touchdowns, producing several of the most explosive plays of the night. His first major highlight came on a 73-yard touchdown run, where he flashed elite acceleration and breakaway speed. He later delivered an even more impressive 85-yard touchdown, breaking tackles, shaking defenders in the open field and outrunning the Benson defense to the end zone. That 85-yard score was set up by one of the defining defensive plays of the game.
With Benson threatening near the goal line in the fourth quarter, Landon Barnes delivered the biggest hit of the night, helping HEIR come up with a critical stop. Moments later, Ireland broke loose for his 85-yard touchdown, completely swinging the momentum. The Bruins continued to battle and forced HEIR to respond late.
With approximately one minute remaining, quarterback Cruz Enciso powered into the end zone on a quarterback sneak, giving HEIR Bang the lead for good. Benson had one final opportunity, but Ireland wasn’t finished.
On the Bruins’ desperation attempt to score in the closing moments, Ireland intercepted the deep pass to seal the 30-24 victory and complete his dominant two-way performance.
HEIR’s secondary also received another big play from TJ Haliburton, who recorded an interception of his own and continued to show why he is regarded as one of the top defensive backs in the state. While the explosive plays will grab the headlines, HEIR Bang’s offensive line set the tone throughout the game. The group controlled the line of scrimmage, consistently creating running lanes and allowing HEIR’s offense to remain physical and productive against its rival.
For a nationally ranked HEIR Bang team with championship expectations, the victory showed another side of the group. It wasn’t just about overwhelming an opponent — it was about responding under pressure, making critical plays in the fourth quarter and finding a way to win when the game was on the line.
