The Renton Rangers and Tac City 8U battled through four quarters and overtime in a hard-fought matchup, with the Rangers ultimately coming away with a 13-6 victory.
The first score came in the second quarter when Dondre “21 Problems” Dowlen broke loose for a 20-yard touchdown run to put Renton ahead 6-0. Tac City answered with a touchdown of its own to tie the game at 6-6.
From there, both defenses held their ground as the game remained tied. The Rangers, also known as BoomSquad, continued to find success on the ground behind runs from Lonzell King, Malakai Armstead and Dowlen, but several false-start penalties stalled drives that were moving toward the end zone.
One of those penalties erased a potential go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter when a pass from Gianni Pascua-Richard to Dowlen was called back because of a false start.
With neither team able to break the tie in regulation, the game went into overtime.
The Rangers received the ball first, and Dowlen once again delivered. Running behind strong blocking from the BoomSquad offense, he found the end zone for the touchdown and added the extra point to put Renton ahead 13-6.
The Rangers defense then took over. Otulau Kamoto continued his strong defensive performance, helping create havoc for Tac City throughout the game. In overtime, Kamoto recorded four tackles for loss before the Rangers defense closed out the victory.
After a hard-fought battle that required four quarters and overtime, Renton’s preparation and resilience helped BoomSquad finish the game with a 13-6 victory.

Coming off the momentum of last week’s shutout victory, the Benson Bruins 8U NewWaveBoys entered Week 3 ready to keep the pressure on, and they did exactly that with a dominant 19-0 shutout victory over the Renton 5 Star Cougars.
Benson’s defense controlled the game from start to finish, refusing to allow the Cougars to find the end zone. Elijah Elmore and Kay’Vion Rogers led the defensive effort, combining for an impressive 18 total tackles and helping anchor a Bruins defense that continued to make big plays throughout the game.
Rogers was just as impactful on offense, wasting no time making his presence felt. On the third play of the series, he broke loose for a 53-yard touchdown run to give Benson an early spark. Rogers struck again in the second half, ripping off a 23-yard touchdown run and making two defenders miss on his way to the end zone.
With the Bruins continuing to control the game late in the fourth quarter, quarterback Raynen Royce Alejaga put the finishing touch on the victory, keeping the ball on a 12-yard tuck-and-run into the end zone to seal the 19-0 win.
With another shutout victory added to their season, the Benson Bruins 8U will look to keep their momentum rolling into Week 4.
