Women Who Pray Honors Exceptional Leaders At Phenomenal Woman Awards

The Women Who Pray (WWP) organization held its annual Phenomenal Woman Awards on August 24, 2024, at the Faith Deliverance Assembly AOH Church in SeaTac, WA. The event, which drew inspiration from Maya Angelou’s iconic poem “Phenomenal Woman,” highlights that true strength in a woman comes from her inner confidence, grace, and the ability to uplift others, recognizes women who embody strength, resilience, and faith in their communities.

“Maya Angelou’s ‘Phenomenal Woman’ poem, a cornerstone of the event, underscores the idea that femininity is a manifestation of strength, not meekness,” says Evangelist Dr. Carolyn J. Hood, the Founder and Executive Director of Women Who Pray. “It suggests that a woman’s inner power is evident in her movements, demeanor, smile, and exuded confidence. This power, rooted in inner confidence and strength, transcends superficial beauty and draws others towards her. The WWP Phenomenal Woman is not confined by societal expectations but by God’s.”

According to Dr. Hood, the WWP Phenomenal Woman is defined not by societal norms but by her dedication to service, prayer, and testimony, reflecting her inner beauty and strength. This year’s awards honored a distinguished group of women, including Rev. Dr. LaVerne Hall, Minister Annette Evans, Dist. Elder Helen Orme, Rev. Ruth Saunders, Co-Host of The Truth Radio Ministry on 1420 KRIZ/1620 KYIZ, Apostle Helen Saddler, Lady Linda Green, Minister Shannon Oliver, Minister Onni Allen, Minister Harriet Bryant, and Pastors Frances Johnson, Ne Sheila Mitchell, and Artis Oliver, among others. Although some recipients were unable to attend due to personal reasons, their contributions to their communities were acknowledged and celebrated.

Operating from its headquarters in Washington State, WWP provides a platform for women across the nation and internationally to engage in prayer and find strength in their faith, promoting healing and transformation for those who have been wounded or broken.
