News Brief: Congressman Al Green Made It Plain ‘There Is No Mandate!’

During the recent State of the Union address, Congressman Al Green staged a protest by vocally confronting President Trump in the chamber. Green, a Democratic representative from Houston Texas, shouted that the President does not have a mandate to cut Medicaid, highlighting concerns over potential reductions to essential social safety nets.

The FAMU and Thurgood Marshall School of Law graduate’s outburst also reflects a growing anxiety among lawmakers about the future of Social Security and Medicaid under the current administration, with many fearing that these programs could face significant budget cuts.
