Alexis Oliver

Alexis L. Oliver is a public policy expert with over 15 years of non-profit and governmental experience. Currently, Oliver serves as Director, Office of Minority and Women’s Business Enterprises (OMWBE).  During her tenure, the OMWBE revolutionized its approach to engagement, public policy, and programs to address economic discrimination through state government contracting. As part of Oliver’s visionary approach, OMWBE leads a state-wide campaign on the benefits of certification, which has engaged approximately 500 firms and visited over 80 locations across the state. As a result of Oliver’s strategic leadership, the state’s supplier diversity effort increased by 20% in two quarters, equating to an additional $13 million in awarded government contracts to minority and women owned businesses.

Before joining OMWBE, Oliver served as Governor Gregoire’s Executive Policy Advisor since 2009. Also, Oliver served as Managing Director, Community Economic Opportunity Unit, at the state Department of Commerce.

Oliver serves on non-profit boards, including the National Women’s Political Caucus of Washington, Seattle University Law School Alumni Board, and NARAL Pro-Choice Washington.

Oliver received her BA from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and her JD from Seattle University School of Law.
