In the Marquee game of the Memorial Classic held last weekend at Memorial Stadium, the O’Dea Fighting Irish, ranked #2 in the 3A division, faced the Lake Stevens Vikings, ranked #2 in the 4A division, in a pivotal early season matchup for both teams as they looked to either move up in the rankings, remain undefeated, or suffer their first loss.
With their second home game of the year at Memorial Stadium delayed due to weather conditions, the Garfield Bulldogs, coming off an impressive 42-2 win last week against Lake City, faced Davis High School, a 4A opponent from Yakima, Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs rallied to score 37 points in the third quarter and 14 in the fourth, as they posted 51 second half points.
After scoring the games’ first touchdown, Lake Stevens began imposing their will on O’Dea and completely shut down the Irish’s offense. They’d force the Irish to punt twice and never let them establish their running game.

Rivalries make for the best competition and this Friday night the Huling Bowl – a rivalry game between West Seattle High School and Chief Sealth High School -- will not only establish bragging rights for West Seattle, but it will also lay the groundwork for two programs that have bright futures.
Leading 7-2 throughout the first half, Garfield quarterback E.J Caminong connected with running back Jacolby Cochran for a 44-yard pass, which led to a 49-yard touchdown pass by the same duo that extended the Bulldogs’ lead to 14-2 heading into halftime.
