What Are Your Thoughts On The Possible Dismantling Of The Department Of Education By The Trump Administration?

Saniyah:
“I think our administration dismantling the Department of Education will restrict students from being able to have a free space and an open classroom environment to learn. It will restrict us from being able to learn things from a broader perspective. If we are restricting certain access to information, we will be blind to new information for the new generation to come, as well as for learning new information. By dismantling that information being given to students, our generation is going to continue to become blinder and blinder.”
Kayla:
“I think it is incredibly disappointing but not surprising. I think post-pandemic, or even during the pandemic, a lot of students were set back just because of the way education was halted. What we needed to do was really try to make that up. What the current administration is doing right now is just completely dismantling that. We lost a lot during that era, and I feel like now we’re losing even more beyond just education. We’re losing history, which is really sad.”
Jasen:
“It would be detrimental to public schools and students of color like myself around the country who are just trying to get their education. It would be a huge step back for us all.”
Seyum:
“I think that it’s completely ridiculous and only emphasizes how out of touch the administration is with real people and how people’s lives are going to be affected by this. There are so many people who are going to be affected by this.”
Caitlin:
“I don’t really have any thoughts on this because I was part of the ninety-two percent that voted. So I feel like this is not my problem right now, honestly, even as somebody who’s enrolling in school.”
Nian:
“Of course, there are going to be negative effects in regard to dismantling the Department of Education. That department affects student loans and financial aid, so it will definitely have some consequences on the lives of students across the country, I think in a negative way.”
