What Do You Think, If Anything, Was Accomplished With The Government Shutdown?

Olivia:
“I don’t think that it was necessary. It was very inconvenient, and I think that it didn’t accomplish anything.”
Kamren:
“I am not that well-informed about it all, but from my knowledge and from what I have heard, it didn’t help accomplish anything, and it affected a lot of people negatively.”
Arya:
“It was such a dumb thing to do, honestly, and it didn’t benefit us in any way. I feel like it did more harm than good, but that’s just my perspective.”
Jean Claude:
“It was a waste of time, resources, and energy. It was just a shameful situation, and nothing was achieved. Workers were laid off, and people weren’t working or receiving their paychecks. It was just a political fight that didn’t bring any good to anyone.”
Micaiah:
“It was good in theory for what was trying to be accomplished, and how they were trying to kind of force Republicans to rewrite the budget. But then I feel like a lot of the work kind of got erased once some of the Democrats just conceded. So ultimately, no, I don’t think anything was accomplished.”
TJ:
“It was a lesson learned overall. I think, obviously, there are issues with the actual government shutting down. But then also, I do think it brought out an awareness of how important government really is in our daily lives, such as air travel and SNAP. I also think it highlights how fragile our health care system is, and the whole democratic side of the argument. I think those things are up there in debate, and it showed us the overall state of our government.”
