HEIR’s 11U team delivered an all-around impressive performance in their victory over Renton, combining explosive offense with a lockdown defense. Loakima Faagai had the play of the day with an interception returned for a touchdown, while teammates Ryson Lopez, Roman Smith, and Austin Tillman all recorded interceptions as well, with Tillman securing two picks, helping to stifle Renton’s offense.
On the offensive side, HEIR’s Tini Inug led the way with three passing touchdowns. Jayden Hernandez scored two touchdowns on the day — once on a reception and once on a kickoff return — while CJ Ireland found the end zone twice with a rushing touchdown and a receiving touchdown. Landon Barnes added a receiving touchdown, and TJ Haliburton scored on a touchdown run to round out the scoring for HEIR.
Benson Bruins 12U 46, Gridiron 6
The Benson Bruins 12U once again came out victorious, this time over a young and feisty Gridiron team led by a great leader in coach DQ Evans.
The game started off pretty tight in a hard-fought 19-6 first half that later turned into a 46-6 slaughter, as the Benson Bruins’ offense and defense were just too much for the Gridiron squad.
Kaiden Peterson-Leonardo led the way with three rushing touchdowns (3, 2, and 11 yards respectively), and also caught one in the air on a double pass from CJ Vala to Alex Richards, who then heaved it 55 yards to Peterson-Leonardo for the score.
Henry Kwao had a 34-yard touchdown run, while teammate Heathcliff Love had a one-yard score at the goal line. Extra point conversions were made by CJ Vala, TJ Tran, Selassie Trahan-Castillo, and Love.
Benson’s defense was led by Makoa Titialii, who scored on a huge interception return for a touchdown and forced a safety on the day.
