Jr Huskies’ Bellinger And Webb Each Score Three Touchdowns In 6U Matchup Against 5 Star

By RayJaun Stelly, The Seattle Medium

Entering week three of the season, the Jr Huskies and 5 Star 6U teams would match up against each other for the first time this year. From the first possession of the game the Jr Huskies took off with the lead and never looked back.

In the first quarter, the Jr Huskies’ defense was impressive as they didn’t allow 5 Star to find their way to the endzone. Their defense fueled the offense as the Jr Huskies’ Elijah Webb would score the back-to-back touchdowns, giving them a 14-0 lead going into the second quarter.

Now leading and with momentum in their favor, the Jr Huskies we’re rolling, scoring in back-to-back fashion again thanks to a 30-yard run from Tyrone Bellinger, Jr. and a 40-yard run from Elijah Webb as they built a commanding 28-0 lead with under a minute left until halftime.

Despite giving up a huge lead, 5 Star found their rhythm as Tymarion Edgecombe escaped the Jr Huskies’ defenders and got into open field, scoring the Cougars’ first touchdown of the game as the clock hit zeros before halftime, cutting the Jr Huskies’ lead to 28-7.

The touchdown from 5 Star gave them a burst of energy to start the second half. Defensively, the Cougars made things more difficult for Jr Huskies. 5 Star was able to get into the backfield, making tackles for losses and made touchdown-saving tackles on some possessions.

With their defense gaining traction, 5 Star’s offense got going as they scored 14 points in the third quarter, courtesy of Khalil Ladd and Tymarion Edgecombe. Although it appeared as if 5 Star was making a comeback with momentum on their side the Jr Huskies would respond.

The Jr Huskies scored 14 points for the third straight quarter as Bellinger scored on a 10-yard quarterback sneak and a 40-yard run, as they extended their lead to 42-21 going into the fourth. Those touchdowns by Bellinger were the Jr Huskies’ last points which ultimately sealed the game as they headed into the fourth.

With only 10 seconds left in regulation, 5 Star’s defense recovered an unforced fumble from the Jr Huskies, and with one play left on offense they’d hand it off to Ladd for the games’ final touchdown as time expired.

Finishing the game with three touchdowns each Bellinger and Webb led the Jr Huskies to a 42-28 win without scoring in the fourth quarter. The Jr Huskies will now face 253 Heir Black in week four at Silas High School and 5 Star will match up against Renton at Renton Memorial.
