Mount Zion Baptist Church Celebrates 84th Women’s Ministry Anniversary With Rev. Dr. Cheryl Ivey Green

Mount Zion Baptist Church will celebrate the 84th anniversary of its Women’s Ministry on March 22, 2026, with a special worship service featuring Rev. Dr. Cheryl Ivey Green as guest speaker.

The service will begin at 10 a.m., with Rev. Dr. Cheryl Ivey Green, executive minister of First Baptist Church of South Richmond, delivering the message. Rev. Dr. Cheryl Ivey Green is a dynamic speaker who holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from Virginia Commonwealth University, a Master of Divinity degree from Virginia Union’s Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology and a Doctor of Ministry degree from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio.

Rev. Dr. Cheryl Ivey Green has served in leadership roles across numerous boards and nonprofit organizations. Rev. Dr. Cheryl Ivey Green served on the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services Board and held the position of chair during that tenure. Rev. Dr. Cheryl Ivey Green is a past president of the Baptist Ministers’ Conference of Richmond and Vicinity and was appointed to the African American Advisory Board of Virginia, where Rev. Dr. Cheryl Ivey Green served as inaugural vice chair, completed three terms as chair and was recently reappointed to another term. Rev. Dr. Cheryl Ivey Green also held executive leadership roles in the Virginia House of Delegates and the Virginia Legislative Black Caucus Foundation and is a founding member and current chaplain of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Richmond Chapter.

Rev. Dr. Cheryl Ivey Green integrates ministry with service in impoverished communities, guided by the words of Jesus found in Luke 4:18, “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners, and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free.”
