Obituary: Garnet Alexa Pitre

Garnet Alexa Pitre

Garnet Alexa Pitre was born to Wilfred and Marie Pitre on July 11, 1959 in Seattle, Washington. She was the third of four children. Garnet passed on to heaven on March 10, 2023 after a very brief battle with liver cancer.

Garnet attended Rainier Beach High School, graduating in 1977, and went on to earn an AA degree.

Garnet spent most of her work career in the restaurant and hospitality industry, working for the Marriott Corporation, Spago restaurants in San Francisco and Los Angeles California and Las Vegas Nevada, as well as, Charlie Trotter’s restaurant, also in Las Vegas. She was also an event planning manager while living there. She eventually returned to Seattle and decided she wanted to be an entrepreneur and opened the Five Fish Bistro on Capitol Hill, which offered great food and received excellent reviews. As Catering Supervisor for Seattle Sportservice, she managed catering sales for Seahawks Football and Sounders FC Soccer game days. At the time of her passing, she was diligently working toward preparing part of her home as an Airbnb, while working at Columbia Hospitality LLC as a concierge.

Garnet had a great interest in cooking and she loved to experiment with exotic recipes. She was famous for preparing a variety of fish dishes. She also loved to travel, visiting such countries as France, Italy and Cuba, with hermother, sister and friends. She was also an avid golfer, and served as assistant events coordinator and logistics manager for Women taking A Swing At Cancer, motivated by the fact that cancer had touched several members of her family.

Garnet was preceded in death by her parents, Wilfred and Marie Pitre and her brother, James Pitre. She is survived by her sister, Ramona Pitre-Collins (Bill); brother, Wilfred C. Pitre (Roslynn); nieces, Briana and Christyna Pitre, nephews Jantzen and Marcel Pitre; and a host of Pitre relatives and friends.

Going forward, we know we are going to miss her every day. But we also know that we were blessed to have had her in our lives.

We wish to express our gratitude for your cards, flowers, visits, phone calls, kind words and every act of love during this time in our lives. Our thanks to you from the depths of our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Washington State Alzheimer’s Association at http://alz.org/get-involved-now/other ways to give: in memory of Marie Elizabeth Pitre, who passed away battling alzheimer’ s disease.

Services for Garnet will be held at 11:00AM Friday, April 21, 2023, at Immaculate Conception Church, 820 18th Avenue, Seattle, WA 98122. A repast will follow services, in the Immaculate Church hall.
