
Louise Long was born on July 13, 1935 in Hope, Arkansas to Roy and Amelia “Lula” Ward. Louise graduated from Yerger High School in 1954; attended cosmetology school in Little Rock, Arkansas; Edwards Beauty School in Seattle, Washington and obtained an AA Degree from Bellevue Community College.
She is survived by her sisters Allie M. Jacobson of Van Nuys, California and Verna Hill of Redmond, Washington; Children Deborah L. Thomas and Ronald L. Long both of Seattle, Washington, and Valerie Long Dominique of Mountlake Terrace, Washington; seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. She was preceded in death by her brothers Alvin Ward, Calvin Ward, Malvin Ward, Otha Ward, Tyree Ward and sisters Augusta Milas, Mary Ellis and Norma Jean Mooney.
Louise was self-employed for more than 20 years as an in-home daycare provider and most recently as a Seattle Public School’s crossing guard at Montlake School. She enjoyed listening to music, cooking for family and friends, gardening and fishing.
She was baptized at the age of twelve in Hope, Arkansas and belonged to various churches with a long membership at New Hope Baptist Church in Seattle prior to joining Mount Zion Baptist Church in Seattle on June 12 1992. She was active on the Usher Board and Women’s Chorus.
Services will be held at Mount Zion Baptists Church this Thurs., Jan. 12 at 11:00 a.m. with viewing prior to the service at 10:00 a.m.
