
President Biden swung through the Pacific Northwest where is talking about infrastructure and green energy. He was in Seattle last Friday where he celebrated Earth Day with an executive order aimed at conservation. He also discussed efforts to lower health care and energy costs for families. In Portland a day before, Biden touted a $1 trillion infrastructure plan.
President Joe Biden was visiting Washington for the first time since his election to the White House. After touching down, Biden started his itinerary in Seward Park where he talked about the climate crisis. The president made comments about bolstering resilience to threats like wildfires.
The executive order he signed was aimed at protecting old-growth forests from threats. The order requires the Forest Service, the Bureau of Land Management and the National Park Service to identify threats to older trees, such as wildfire and climate change, and develop policies to safeguard them.
The president left his first event and traveled to Green River College. The president has been talking about bringing down cost for families. Inflation and the economy might be a huge issue in the coming midterm elections and his reelection. Biden talked about his recent actions to lower costs for families. Biden also called on Congress to pass his plan to lower healthcare and energy costs.
While in Seattle, Biden was joined by Gov. Jay Inslee, Congresswoman Kim Schrier, and Senators Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell during his appearances in Seattle. Biden then departed from Sea-Tac Airport for Wilmington, Delaware.
The president was held up from leaving right away due to a suspicious package which turned out to be a rice cooker.
