The Tacoma Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. will host the Western Province Council Meeting, March 26-28 at the Seattle Airport Marriott Hotel. The theme for the Council Meeting is Reaching for the Peak: Achievement, Scholarship, Service. The Tacoma Alumni Chapter and Kappa Alpha Psi promises to reward achievement, promote scholarship and encourage service in the communities we serve.
Since its charter in 1985, the Tacoma Alumni Chapter has consistently awarded scholarships to deserving students, helped to raise donations for the UNCF, volunteered for youth, and served as sponsors for various causes. Most recently, the “Shop with a Kappa” served families in Tacoma with gifts for the Christmas Holiday.
The Council Meeting will have Brothers and their guests from Oregon, California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Alaska, Hawaii and Washington attend to perform business, and enjoy the social events scheduled for all to participate. The Council Meeting will also sponsor a Health Screening on Sat., Sept. 28 at Allen AME Church in Tacoma from 11:00am – 1:00pm. The screenings are free of charge. Kappa encourages the community to be aware of their physical health.
The public events will begin Thursday evening with Klub Kappa, 8:00 pm – 11:00 pm. The Public Meeting will honor Pierce County and City of Tacoma community contributors and achievers. This free event is a very proud moment of what Kappa represents, and all members of the Divine Nine are encouraged to attend. Following the Public Meeting there will be an Undergraduate Dance.
On Saturday, the Kappa Foundation will host a luncheon featuring Keynote Speaker, Rev. Dr. Leslie D. Braxton. Please visit tacomakappas.org for ticket information.
The Council Meeting will conclude Saturday evening, with Lady in RED. A Semi-formal to Formal, After Five affair for those Grown and Sexy adults that have what it takes to have a good time and look good doing it.
