A daring encounter unfolded in a West Seattle home as homeowners successfully repelled a burglar using a frying pan before the suspect was eventually subdued and arrested. The incident left three individuals with minor injuries but fortunately did not require hospitalization.
According to the homeowner, the incident began when he heard the sound of glass breaking downstairs and discovered an unknown man inside his home. Confronted by the homeowner, the suspect engaged in a physical altercation before being forced outside. However, the determined intruder managed to find his way back inside the residence and proceeded to fight with the homeowner’s spouse. In an act of resourcefulness, the homeowner’s spouse wielded a frying pan to fend off the intruder and encourage him to leave the premises, as reported by the police.
Remarkably, the suspect persisted and managed to gain entry into the home for the third time. He made his way to the second floor before the homeowner, aided by a neighbor, apprehended and held him down until law enforcement arrived. The suspect was subsequently taken to Harborview Medical Center for a medical evaluation before being booked into King County Jail.
The identified suspect, Ethan McConaghy, 29, has been charged with residential burglary in a King County District Court. The incident not only highlights the bravery of the homeowners but also serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining vigilance and taking necessary measures to protect one’s home and loved ones.
During the course of the incident, emergency services were called to the scene. The Seattle Fire Department confirmed that three individuals required medical attention. Two women, aged 50 and 66, were in stable condition, while a man believed to be around 30 years old sustained minor injuries. Fortunately, none of them required transportation to a hospital.
