Do You Believe Seattle Is Doing Enough On The Homeless Front?

Artina Daniels…
“I don’t think Seattle is handling our homeless situation adequately. One there is not enough shelters that are being provided for people and I also do not think that just providing shelters is going to be the solution. I think maybe rehabs or drug rehabilitation facilities within the homeless shelter would be a lot more helpful because there a lot of people who are on drugs on the streets, so I think that would be a little more helpful.”

“I don’t believe that Seattle is doing a good enough job handling the homeless situation that we have in this city. I feel like there’s a lot of them around, I can’t go around a street corner without seeing a homeless person. I even see them sleeping in the hallways of our building all the time. So I really don’t see the city handling this situation very well at all.”

“The State and the City needs to invest funds for mental health and drug intervention. Follow thru and total accountability on the state and city would make the intervention paramount. Homelessness for some is by chance and for others it’s a choice. Those that want help will accept it and change will be made”.

“I think they should have more safe havens or should I say homeless shelters for the homeless, basically not just Seattle but anywhere in America. They should give the homeless more opportunities where they can find jobs so that they are able to get back on their feet and just get their life back on track.”

“In terms of how Seattle is handling the homeless population I think they’re trying but I don’t think, at least from what I’ve seen, it doesn’t seem like there is enough effort put into it. Im not sure if there is enough support or lack thereof  or maybe lack of getting funding to offer more programs. I know that libraries are trying to do a lot of stuff but I just feel like it’s something that people talk about a lot, but it doesn’t seem like enough is being done and that’s just from my experience.

Aida Ayenew…
Homeless is not necessarily left up to the government. Homelessness is a choice. It is up to the individual if that is how they want to live. You have the power to better your position in life.
