Alpha Kappa Alpha To Celebrate 110th Founders’ Day Feb. 3

King County Superior Court Judge Nicole Gaines Phelps

The Delta Upsilon Omega and Beta Theta Chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. will celebrate the organization’s 110th Founders’ Day and the 70th and 85th chapter anniversaries of service to the greater Seattle community. In celebration of these momentous milestones and the legacy of the Sorority, the chapters will host a gala celebration on Sat. Feb. 3 at the Maplewood Golf Course in Renton.

The keynote speaker for the event will be King County Superior Court Judge Nicole Gaines Phelps – the first African-American woman to win an open seat for superior judge in Washington State.

The event theme, “Celebrating our Legacy:  Bonded in Sisterhood and Supreme in Service” represents Delta Upsilon Omega and Beta Theta’s rich history of activism and service in the Seattle community and on the campus of the University of Washington. In addition, the event will provide an opportunity to spotlight the newest initiated members of Beta Theta Chapter (initiated November 19, 2017) and the relevancy of our sisterhood through the perspective of today’s African-American college student.
