CAPTION: Rev. LaVerne C. Hall appointed to the Vestry at St. Mark’s Cathedral in Seattle, Washington

The Very Reverend Robert Taylor, Dean of Saint Mark’s Cathedral, is pleased to announce the appointment of The Reverend LaVerne C. Hall as the second Community Representative to the Cathedral Vestry. The appointment was applauded at the parish annual meeting on Sunday afternoon, February 27, in the Cathedral. In her first year on the Vestry, among other responsibilities, Rev. Hall will serve on the Governance Committee, which is responsible for monitoring compliance of Vestry operations with the Bylaws and other documents. The committee also assists in the preparation of retreats and organizes evaluations of the performance of the Vestry. Saint Mark’s Cathedral located in Seattle on Capitol Hill, is the cathedral for the Episcopal Church in Western Washington. The Vestry is the Cathedral’s governing board. It is composed of nine Parish Representatives elected by parish members, three Diocesan Representatives elected by the Diocesan Convention, and three Community Representatives appointed by the Dean, with the advice and consent of the Vestry. The first Diocesan and Community Representatives joined the Vestry in 2004.Hall, a former member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church in Seattle, former Assistant Pastor, Cherry Hill Baptist Church in Seattle, and President Emeritus of the Dr. James W. Washington, Jr. and Mrs. Janie Rogella Washington Foundation, resides in Renton/Bellevue, Washington and is the owner of Holiday Hall, an all-occasion greeting cards and gifts boutique in downtown Renton.
