Joyce Evelyn Clark was a devoted member of Curry Temple CME Church, a community activist, and the first Black woman in Washington to serve as Water Commissioner, who was deeply committed to faith, family, and service to others.

Charla Yvette Murphy, a beloved mother, daughter, sister, auntie, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2026 after a long but victorious fight, and will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, warm heart, and lasting impact on everyone she met.

Kevin Stanley Thomas Sr. passed away on January 11, 2026, leaving behind six children, three sisters, three brothers, and many extended family members, and a celebration of life will be held on February 26, 2026, at Bonney-Watson in SeaTac.

Mozell Brown, a Seattle native, passed away on October 2, 2025, after a life of service to her community, having worked for the City of Seattle and the Boeing Company, and was a pastoral secretary at Mount Zion Baptist Church.

A public celebration of life ceremony will be held on Nov. 8 at Husky Stadium to honor the legacy of Dr. Charles Mitchell, a University of Washington football standout and longtime Seattle education leader who passed away on June 27.
