This film – directed by John Ridley, Oscar winning screenwriter for 12 Years a Slave — is unlike most biopics as it concentrates on a brief period of time in the life of Jimi Hendrix. The irony is the film limits its scope to one year in the life of a man that shunned and transcended constraints. Jimi: All Is By My Side provides an interesting but limited look into the life of a musical icon.
Jimi Hendrix: All Is By My Side is the feature film of SIFF’s 2014 Opening Night Gala this Thurs., May 15 at Marion Oliver McCaw Hall (Seattle Center) – 321 Mercer St., Seattle, WA 98109. Director John Ridley scheduled to attend.
